Pompeii

When in Pompeii, you can’t help but come to the conclusion that we continue to do things as we did in the past. Remaining present while at this archeological site was difficult as I kept imagining what life must have been like centuries ago. It was founded somewhere between the 9th and 8th century B.C. and lasted until 79 A.D. The archeological site remains active and new discoveries are made frequently.

The above photos were taken at Pompeii and Naples in June 2022

Walking along the city streets you gain an appreciation for the ancient people who designed it and kept things from crumbling. Running water, lead pipes, bath houses, shops with store fronts, brothels, paved roads and designated sidewalks. The homes, some with two stories, decorated with hues of reds and yellows. Murals lining the walls and marble accent tiles force you to feel as if nothing has changed despite our modern advances.
